Tomatoes 2010

This summer started really well for my tomatoes; I sowed them indoors in March and planted them out just days after the last frost. I bought sturdy, long bambo poles and staked them well.

But, when I came back from France in June my tomatoes had mutated into beanstalks. Then the tomatoes came, the largest so far is almost a kilo, and my sturdy sticks couldn’t take the weight…

Finally; it rained for the whole of August, which drowned the poor little buggers and caused mouldy bottom… So far my main crop is pictured below, there’s about 20kg left on the vines but whether they ripen or not remains to be seen. Better luck next year…

About Me

I love food; cooking it, eating it and having prentious and mildly competative conversations about it. I also play guitar and enjoy the occasional glass of wine or seven.

Based in Tilburg, NL, this blog follows my adventures in food and cooking, trying to eat well in a land where you can buy a horse paste sausage from a vending machine.

For quality suppliers in and around the Tilburg area, see my page on Suppliers.
